WEST HIGHLAND WHITE TERRIERS
We have been breeding the West Highland White
Terriers since 2003 and have had much success
with our lines.  Westies are super hearty, compact
dogs that require a routine and a firm hand but
once ground rules are established and understood,
you will have a very loyal and loving companion.
Westies do very well with children and other dogs.
They will tolerate cats if they are raised with them,
but I wouldn't advise bringing an adult westie into a
household with cats.
Westies require some exercise and love to romp
and play and chase squirrels and other vermin as
thats what they were bred for when the breed was
established in Scotland.  The owners would hunt
vermin in the mountainsides and the westie would
go down the hole and the owner would pull the dog
out by its carrot shaped tail.  The Westies weigh in
between 15-22 pounds and have an average life
span of 15+ years.  The coat will need to be brushed
at least twice a week and washing once or twice a
month should be sufficient as you don't want to dry
out the skin.  Grooming the coat should be done by
stripping if you want to keep the correct coat type,
but most people shave leaving a skirt at the mid-rib
with a full rounded head.
